A PRESENTATION CEREMONY OF THE BOOK "FLOOD" BY THE PROMINENT KYRGYZ WRITER, TURKSOY SECRETARY GENERAL SULTAN RAEV WAS HELD AT THE TURKIC CULTURE AND HERITAGE FOUNDATION.

On December 9, 2024, the presentation of the book "The Flood" by the outstanding Kyrgyz writer, Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev, published by the organization, took place at the headquarters of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation.

The book, translated by Rabiga Nazimgizi and edited by Farid Huseynov, presents a modern version of the biblical flood, telling the story of the severe trials faced by the main characters.

In addition, Aktoty Raimkulova provided the participants with detailed information about the organization's activities: “First of all, I would like to note that the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation carries out various projects in the areas of preserving, studying, and promoting the rich history and culture of the Turkic world on the international stage. This year, the Foundation has prepared three book series: “Outstanding Personalities of the Turkic World”, “Literary Pearls of the Turkic World”, and “Scientific Treasures of the Turkic World”. I would also like to mention that 950 years have passed since the creation of "Dīwān Lughāt al-Turk", the first encyclopedic dictionary of Turkic languages, written by the prominent scholar of the Turkic world, Mahmud al-Kashgari. This significant event has been included in the list of anniversaries to be celebrated by UNESCO in 2024-2025. The Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation will hold an international conference at UNESCO in Paris on December 13, dedicated to "Dīwān Lughāt al-Turk".

Speaking at the event Minister of Culture of the Republic Adil Karimli underlined the special interest of Azerbaijani readers in Kyrgyzliterature and deep respect for the work of Chingiz Aitmatov: "This is the second time that the book by the outstanding Kyrgyz writer, Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev has been translated intoAzerbaijani. We are very pleased to witness this. We express our gratitude to the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation for presenting this book to Azerbaijani readers. I am confident that the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Will continue to sign joint projects, and the number of such projects will only increase".

Speaking at the event the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Academician Isa Habibbayli, People’s Writer of Azerbaijan Chingiz Abdullayev, Director of the Atatürk Center, Academician Nizami Jafarov, Member of the OTS Council of Elders Hasan Hasanov, Secretaries of the Union of Azerbaijani writers, poet Salim Babullaoghly, and writer Ilgar Fakhmi, Members of the Milli Majlis Javanshir Feyziyev and Hikmat Babaoghlu; Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Azerbaijan Maksat Mamytkanov and the translator of the work Rabiga Nazimgizi shared their thoughts on Sultan Raev’s work “The Flood”.

The author of the work, Sultan Raev, in his speech, expressed gratitude to everyone who supported and contributed to the creation of the book. He also noted that while the work had been translated into Russian, it was especially important for him that it be translated into Azerbaijani, as Turkic languages unite us. "I am happy that Azerbaijani readers will get acquainted with my work," emphasized Sultan Raev.

Then, the actress of the Baku Municipal Theater, Honored Artist of Azerbaijan, Husniyya Murvatova, performed an excerpt from the novel “The Flood”.

The event, moderated by the Chairman of the Youth Council of the Union Writers of Azerbaijan, poet Farid Huseyn, was attended by government and political figures of Azerbaijan, deputies, ambassadors of the member and observer countries of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, representatives of Turkic Cooperation Organizations, as well as figures from science, culture, and society.

At the end of the event, writer Sultan Raev gifted signed copies of his books to the participants.
