THE PRESIDENT OF THE TURKIC CULTURE AND HERITAGE FOUNDATION PARTICIPATED IN THE NEXT MEETING OF THE PRESIDENCY OF ANAS
On December 20, 2024, the next meeting of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) was held.
The president of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Aktoty Raimkulova, also attended the meeting. Additionally, ANAS's President, academician Isa Habibbayli, members of the Presidium, a member of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States, Professor Hasan Hasanov, heads of departments of the Presidium Apparatus, and other relevant officials were present.
The meeting was opened with a speech by academician Isa Habibbayli, who provided information about the agenda.
The most important and first issue discussed at the meeting was related to the visit to France regarding the participation of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation in the international conference held at UNESCO Headquarters, dedicated to the 950th anniversary of the work Divanü Lügati't-Türk under the theme "The Lexicographic Mapping of the World: The 950th Anniversary of Divanü Lügati't-Türk."
In his speech, academician Isa Habibbayli emphasized how challenging and arduous it was to bring an issue concerning the Turkic world to the UNESCO level in the current geopolitical climate. He highly appreciated the efforts of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and its president, Aktoty Raimkulova, and expressed his gratitude. He also noted that the development level of Azerbaijani science was showcased to the world from the heart of Europe, at UNESCO Headquarters. The ANAS's president emphasized that this achievement belongs to the entire Turkic world.
He stated that the international conference dedicated to the 950th anniversary of Divanü Lügati't-Türk was organized in four sections, with participants from the Permanent Delegations of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Hungary to UNESCO, as well as European Turkologists.
The presentation featured speeches from Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to UNESCO, Elman Abdullayev, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Aktoty Raimkulova, Secretary-General of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, Seymur Fattaliyev, Professor Hasan Hasanov, Director of the Nasimi Institute of Linguistics of ANAS, Professor Nadir Mammadli, Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, Vafa Abdullayeva-Nabiyeva, and scholars from Turkey, France, the Netherlands, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and other countries.
Academician Isa Habibbayli stated that the presentation of the publication prepared at ANAS at the UNESCO level is one of the most remarkable events in the 80-year history of the Academy. Expressing his satisfaction and joy over the cooperation with the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, he wished to always stand "shoulder to shoulder" in future projects and once again expressed his gratitude to the Foundation.
The President of the Foundation, Aktoty Raimkulova, provided information about the Foundation’s activities throughout 2024 and highlighted the most important aspects of its development. She emphasized that one of the most significant and crucial projects of the Foundation was the long-prepared international conference dedicated to Divanü Lügati't-Türk.
"December 13, 2024, will undoubtedly have a special place in history. On that day, we gathered at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France, to highlight the invaluable contribution of Divanü Lügati't-Türk to world culture and the development of the language and cultural heritage of Turkic peoples."
Aktoty Raimkulova then emphasized ANAS’s efforts in preserving and transmitting Turkic culture and heritage to future generations, expressing her deep gratitude.
"It is a great honor for us that the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, led by the esteemed academician Isa Habibbayli, actively participates in the activities of our Foundation."
At the end of the meeting, academician Isa Habibbayli stated that ANAS would continue its work successfully in line with the tasks set by the country's leadership and the challenges of modern world science.
