YASAWI’S LEGACY IN BAKU: INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION “THE MYSTERY OF THE AZURE DOME” OPENED WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE TURKIC CULTURE AND HERITAGE FOUNDATION

On September 30, 2026, the opening ceremony of the international exhibition “The Mystery of the Azure Dome", prepared by the “Azret Sultan” National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was held at the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan.

The project was implemented as part of the ongoing systematic efforts to fulfil the instructions of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, His Excellency Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, aimed at studying, preserving and widely promoting the legacy of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi both in Kazakhstan and abroad

The exhibition is being held with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, within the framework of developing cultural and humanitarian cooperation and promoting the shared heritage of the Turkic peoples.

The event featured remarks by the Director of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, Academician Naila Valikhanli; the Head of the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mrs. Sabina Hajiyeva; the Director of the “Azret Sultan” National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Yerlan Dakenov; as well as representatives of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Mrs. Leyla Hasanova and Mr. Maksat Argynbekov.

Following the official part of the event, the participants viewed the exposition of the international exhibition “The Mystery of the Azure Dome".

The exhibition presented visitors with the historical and cultural heritage of ancient Turkistan and the rich architecture of the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. The exposition featured models of the monument, original tiles and architectural fragments dating from the 12th–14th centuries, as well as rare examples of Kufic calligraphy. In addition, manuscripts and documents reflecting the spiritual legacy of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi were presented, including materials on his genealogy and the influence of his teachings on the Turkic peoples.
