THE PRESENTATION OF PROFESSOR HASAN HASANOV’S BOOK “COMMON ETHNIC ROOTS OF HUNGARIANS AND AZERBAIJANIS” WAS HELD AT THE TURKIC CULTURE AND HERITAGE FOUNDATION
On June 10, 2026, the headquarters of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation hosted the presentation of a new publication from the organization’s “Pearls of Turkic World Diplomacy” book series - “Common Ethnic Roots of Hungarians and Azerbaijanis", authored by prominent public, state and political figure, member of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Hasan Hasanov.
Opening the event with welcoming remarks, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Professor Aktoty Raimkulova, greeted the guests and emphasized that the Foundation consistently promotes the rich cultural heritage of Turkic peoples both within member states and on the international stage. In her speech, the President highlighted projects implemented within the framework of cooperation with Hungary, an observer state of the Organization. She noted that the launch of the Center for Turkic Culture and Heritage at the University of Warsaw, established with the support of the Foundation, as well as the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Foundation and Jagiellonian University, constitute important steps toward promoting Turkic cultural heritage within the international academic community.
Continuing her speech, Professor Aktoty Raimkulova highly praised the outstanding scholarly potential and achievements of the book’s author, Professor Hasan Hasanov, describing the publication of this fundamental work as an important milestone in the Foundation’s activities. It was noted that this valuable edition, previously published in Russian and Hungarian, is now being presented to Azerbaijani readers for the first time.
Speaking about the history of the book’s creation, the author, distinguished diplomat Professor Hasan Hasanov, expressed his gratitude to the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and all participants for organizing the presentation. He noted that throughout his diplomatic career in various countries, he had always paid special attention to the study of Turkic heritage. According to him, the publication represents a comprehensive scientific analysis of the views of prominent Hungarian scholars such as Gyula Németh, Lajos Ligeti, Zoltán Gombocz and others regarding Turkic heritage, and once again demonstrates the depth of Hungarian–Turkic ties.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Azerbaijan Tamás Torma, Chairwoman of the Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Hijran Huseynova, Director of the Atatürk Center in Azerbaijan, Academician Nizami Jafarov, Honored Art Worker Ismayil Omarov, Head of the Department of International Relations and Regional Studies at Azerbaijan University of Languages Professor Sevdagul Aliyeva, as well as Head of the Department of Regional Studies on Eastern Countries at Azerbaijan University of Languages and Doctor of Cultural Studies Nigar Afandiyeva, highly praised the scientific significance of the publication.
The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to the Republic of Azerbaijan, public officials, representatives of academia, culture and socio-political circles, heads of international organizations, as well as media representatives.
During the artistic part of the event, Hungarian and Azerbaijani musical compositions were performed by Ismayil Zulfugarov, laureate of republican and international competitions and senior lecturer at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts.
