On May 28, 2025, the President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Mrs. Aktoty Raimkulova, delivered a speech at the official opening of the international exhibition and conference HERITAGE TURQUOISE 2025, held at the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Samarkand.
The event brought together leading experts in the fields of restoration, archaeology, museology, library technologies, and cultural tourism, and continues a series of prestigious forums on cultural heritage preservation, such as Heritage Istanbul and Heritage Middle East.
In her opening remarks, Mrs. Raimkulova emphasized the significance of hosting the forum in Samarkand, at the crossroads of the Great Silk Road, and noted that the preservation, study, and promotion of cultural heritage is the core mission of the Foundation, established on the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan and supported by the Heads of the Turkic States.
With special pride, the Foundation’s President announced a historic decision made on May 21 at the Informal Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States in Budapest — the accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan as a full member of the Foundation. She stated that this important step opens new horizons for implementing international projects and will significantly strengthen cultural cooperation across the Turkic world.
In her presentation, Mrs. Raimkulova also shared key achievements of the Foundation over the past year. These include the restoration of the Alykul Osmonov House-Museum in Bishkek, the international traveling exhibition “Diwan Lughat at-Turk”, conferences in collaboration with UNESCO, the publication of a literary series, the launch of the TurkDiscovery media platform, and the establishment of new Turkic Heritage Centers at universities in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan.
Particular attention in her speech was given to the Foundation’s plans for 2025, including restoration, research, and educational projects in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Hungary. Concluding her remarks, she underlined the importance of dialogue between cultures and generations and expressed confidence that HERITAGE TURQUOISE 2025 would make a meaningful contribution to advancing professional cooperation in the field of cultural heritage preservation.
