CULTURAL HERITAGE PRESERVATION IN THE TURKIC WORLD AND PROSPECTS FOR FUTURE COOPERATION DISCUSSED IN PARIS: MEETING HELD BETWEEN THE PRESIDENT OF THE TURKIC CULTURE AND HERITAGE FOUNDATION AND THE DIRECTOR OF CULTURE AND EMERGENCIES AT UNESCO'S CULTURE SECTOR

On June 1, 2026, within the framework of her working visit to Paris, the President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Professor Aktoty Raimkulova, held an official bilateral meeting with Ms. Krista Pikkat, Director of Culture and Emergencies at UNESCO's Culture sector. 

The meeting was of strategic importance in terms of ensuring the protection and recovery of cultural heritage sites in emergency and crisis situations, as well as strengthening regional cooperation mechanisms in this field.

During the meeting, high appreciation was expressed for the effectiveness of the regional expert programmes and training initiatives implemented by the Foundation in the areas of restoration and safeguarding of cultural heritage, as well as international cooperation aimed at combating the illicit trafficking of cultural property.

During the discussions, Professor Aktoty Raimkulova presented UNESCO with a number of new practical proposals aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of cooperation between the two institutions.

For her part, Ms. Krista Pikkat highly commended the active role of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation in safeguarding global cultural heritage and strengthening cultural diplomacy across the region. She also expressed interest in supporting the proposed initiatives and implementing joint projects within the framework of emergency preparedness and response.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to further deepen the partnership in pursuit of shared humanitarian objectives.
