MUSICAL HERITAGE OF THE TURKIC WORLD IN UZBEKISTAN: PRESIDENT OF THE TURKIC CULTURE AND HERITAGE FOUNDATION PARTICIPATES IN THE OPENING OF THE 3RD INTERNATIONAL FORUM OF MAQOM ART
On June 23, 2026, the solemn opening ceremony of the 3rd International Forum of Maqom Art took place in Namangan, Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Forum was officially inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, His Excellency Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev. In his address, the Head of State emphasized the special role of maqom art in preserving spiritual values, strengthening cultural dialogue, and transmitting the rich historical and cultural heritage to future generations.
During the Forum, the President of Uzbekistan also put forward a number of initiatives aimed at the further development of maqom art. In particular, he proposed granting global status to the Maqom Center currently under construction in New Tashkent, establishing an International Academy of Maqom within the Center, and preparing a unified World Anthology of Maqom. These initiatives are intended to contribute to the preservation, systematization, and broader international promotion of the unique musical heritage of the peoples of the East.
The President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Professor Aktoty Raimkulova, attended the event as an honorary guest and highly praised the role of maqom art, an integral part of the common cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples, in strengthening spiritual ties among nations.
The event also brought together heads and representatives of major international organizations, including UNESCO, ICESCO, the Organization of Turkic States, TURKSOY, and the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA), as well as ministers of culture, ambassadors of foreign countries, and approximately 250 cultural and artistic figures from more than 80 countries worldwide.
It should be noted that the 3rd International Forum of Maqom Art, which serves as an important international platform for the preservation, study, and promotion of rich musical heritage, has brought together distinguished representatives of the musical arts from around the world.
