THE NEXT MEETING OF THE INTERNATIONAL EXPERT GROUP OF THE PROJECT “HERITAGE OF TURKIC FOLKLORE” TOOK PLACE IN KYZYLORDA REGION

On October 10, 2025, the next meeting of the international expert group of the project “Heritage of Turkic Folklore,” implemented with the aim of preparing the multivolume, multilingual Anthology of the Folklore Heritage of Turkic Peoples was held at the “Анаға тағзым” (“Tribute to Mother”) Center in the Kyzylorda city, Republic of Kazakhstan. The meeting was organized by the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation in cooperation with the Akimat of Kyzylorda Region.

The meeting was attended by prominent folklorists and scholars from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of the meeting, the international experts were presented with and received volumes from the series “Heroic Epic of the Turkic Peoples.” In addition, President of the Foundation, Mrs. Aktoty Raimkulova, awarded certificate of appreciation to the Presidents of National Academies of Sciences, representatives of Ministries of Culture, directors of Institutes, and experts in the fields of culture, art, folklore, and literature who contributed to the preparation of the project.

The agenda of the meeting included discussions on the further preparation of the second series of the project titled “Turkic Romantic Epic” and the strategic directions of the project for 2026–2027.

It should be recalled that the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, upon the initiative of H.E. Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and following the instructions of the Heads of the Turkic States (adopted at the 11th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, November 6, 2024, Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic), is implementing the first-ever multi-volume, multilingual project titled “Heritage of Turkic Folklore.”

This project unites the epic, ritual, fairy-tale, legendary, and other folk traditions of the Turkic peoples. It aims to preserve the richness of their oral traditions and to promote the intangible cultural heritage of the Turkic world on a wide scale.
