The Akimat of Astana, in cooperation with the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, will hold the International Arts Festival “World Music” (“Әлем Әуені”) on November 24-25, 2025 in Astana, bringing together researchers, artisans, and performers of the Turkic world. The festival program will include a symposium titled “Root and Sound: Traditions of Making Turkic Musical Instruments and Modern Solutions,” master classes, the official opening of the Art Museum, and a gala concert.

The main objective of the project is a comprehensive study of the shared traditions of musical instrument making among Turkic peoples, identifying the continuity between ancient technologies and modern innovative approaches, as well as creating a scientific and practical platform for the exchange of experience among craftsmen, scholars, performers, and researchers.

Special attention will be given to practical master classes. Renowned artisans from Turkic countries will demonstrate traditional methods of making musical instruments, modern restoration approaches, and technologies for improving acoustic sound quality. Participants will have the opportunity to observe key stages of wood processing, skin stretching, string installation, and even create a miniature model of an instrument.

The Festival will also feature the official opening of the unique Art Museum in Astana, which will include a special section dedicated to musical instruments of the Turkic world.

Additionally, concerts and open performances showcasing traditional forms of playing Turkic musical instruments will be organized.

The event will gather representatives of research institutes and cultural centers of the Turkic world, musicologists, art historians, ethnographers, instrument-making masters, MA and PhD students, as well as public and state figures involved in the preservation and promotion of musical heritage from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, and Hungary.
