THE EFFORTS UNDERTAKEN TO COMMEMORATE THIS HISTORIC EVENT AND TO PRESERVE ITS LEGACY ARE HIGHLY VALUABLE
“As the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress approaches, the efforts undertaken to commemorate this historic event and to preserve its legacy are highly valuable.”
These remarks were made by poet Adnan Özer, Head of the International Istanbul Literature Festival, within the framework of a project dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress jointly produced by the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and Baku TV. The poet emphasized that further intensification of Turkological research within literary circles would be beneficial. Adnan Özer also noted that the formation of a common literary language for the Turkic world is one of the key issues.
According to him, the first serious steps in this direction were taken precisely at the First Turkological Congress, and the transition to the Latin alphabet holds historical significance in this regard. The poet further highlighted the necessity of initiating systematic research into the historical and oral heritage of the Turkic language without delay.
