THIS GREAT CONGRESS MARKED AN IMPORTANT STAGE IN THE CULTURAL INTEGRATION OF THE TURKIC PEOPLES

“The First Turkological Congress entered history as one of the most significant events in the cultural life of the Turkic peoples, especially the Azerbaijani people, at the beginning of the 20th century.”

These words were stated by the Secretary General of TURKSOY, People’s Writer of Kyrgyzstan, Sultan Rayev, in the new edition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress.

He noted that the congress was attended by 131 representatives in total, including scholars living within the borders of the Soviet Union as well as abroad: linguists, historians, poets and writers, and other prominent intellectuals.
“This great congress marked an important stage in the cultural integration of the Turkic peoples. From the perspective of identifying, discussing, preparing, and later implementing a number of important issues of interest to most Turkic peoples living across a broad and diverse geography, this congress holds extraordinary significance.”
