MEMBERS OF THE ADVISORY COUNCIL OF RESTORERS, HISTORIANS, AND ARCHITECTS UNDER THE TURKIC CULTURE AND HERITAGE FOUNDATION VISITED THE "BEREL" MUSEUM-RESERVE (EAST KAZAKHSTAN)

On June 13, 2025, within the framework of a series of cultural events held in the Katon-Karagai district of the East Kazakhstan region—including the International Music Festival "Altai – Cradle of the Turkic World," an international aitys of akyns (oral improvisational poets), and scientific conferences—the members of the Advisory Council of Restorers, Historians, and Architects, operating under the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, visited the "Berel" Museum-Reserve.

This initiative was carried out by the Foundation to draw expert attention to the unique cultural and historical heritage of the Altai region and to develop scientifically-grounded recommendations for its preservation.

The Advisory Council is composed of highly qualified specialists in the fields of architectural restoration, archaeology, and cultural heritage preservation, representing various Turkic countries. These experts have many years of professional experience, successfully completed restoration projects, and substantial scientific research in the field.

During the visit, the Council members conducted a comprehensive examination of the Berel burial mounds — an outstanding archaeological site housing invaluable artifact of the Saka culture. The Berel kurgans are not only of archaeological significance but also serve as a vital link in the cultural and historical continuity of the Turkic peoples.

Following the inspection and analysis, the experts emphasized the importance of developing integrated conservation and museumification programs, strengthening the protection of unique sites, and fostering international academic cooperation. A key area of focus will be the creation of methodological recommendations for the sustainable preservation of archaeological finds, especially given the environmental and climatic vulnerability of the region.

Special attention was given to the integration of traditional knowledge with modern restoration technologies and to the expansion of international collaboration within the common scientific and cultural space of the Turkic world.

The visit to the Berel archaeological complex served not only as a professional mission but also as a symbolic gesture of unity through shared cultural heritage.
